So I've seen some Master & Commander reviews. While some of them are ok, I have one thing to say: if you're going to criticize a film for straying from the books it's based on, you might want to READ them first. I've seen so many writers bitching about what's been changed and getting it totally wrong! I mean, if you want to review it as a film in its own right that's fine - just don't pretend you care about how faithful it is to the original if you clearly don't know what you're talking about.

I'd love to see a really well-done miniseries covering more of the series. With a huge Hollywood budget, and probably still starring Russell, and with a new costar but I don't know who. And hour and hours so they could actually develop the characters as they are in the books.

It's intensely pleasurable to read these - a series with characters who are so alive and present as you read, so much that you're completely caught up in everything that happens to them. Anyway, I'm recommending them to all of you again.

C'mon, A&E! It's been awhile since the last Horatio Hornblower episode too. I loved how faithful their Pride and Prejudice and Ivanhoe works were too.
