just laptop cases
Oct. 13th, 2003 07:43 pmHmm .. my stuff from Apple arrived, and the laptop case I ordered is definitely not going to work - at least not without a separate padded sleeve, which I wasn't planning to buy. It's a really nice bag (the Kensington saddlebag), but there's not sufficient padding for a laptop at all, plus the Albook doesn't even fit in the compartment without sticking out the top. Not very cool considering Apple sells them through their own store marked "Fits all laptops!"
So I guess even with a sleeve, this would still leave the computer too exposed. I might just keep the Kensington for non-laptop use. But I still need to find something else. Too bad the Willow Design and Brenthaven bags are so expensive .. the Willow especially is very appealing since it also has the shoulder bag/backpack convertible option.

Date: 2003-10-13 07:30 pm (UTC)how are you determining whether the amount of padding is sufficient?
when you open the bag does it have two open pockets? the back one is padded with an unpadded one in front of it...and a zippered compartment in front of that with a mesh pocket in front of that?

Date: 2003-10-13 07:39 pm (UTC)there's almost no padding at all, so there's not much determining that I have to do .. it barely seems like a laptop bag. nice bag, but not protective at all. any bumps will be making way too much impact on the computer :( especially on top, where the albook sticks up above the padding.

Date: 2003-10-13 08:26 pm (UTC)I managed to get the 15" in there once horizontally, with lots of difficulty. it really wrenches the bag and it took both hands, one knee, and all my strength .. not a workable solution.
the tibook might have worked a bit better in htere .. it's slightly thinner. there are bags that fit the tibook and not the albook.
