Date: 2003-01-26 05:58 pm (UTC)Hmm... good question. I'd probably recommend either the first set of Newford short stories, Dreams Underfoot, or Memory and Dream. Moonheart's also a good early book of his, as is Jack the Giant Killer, both of which are based in Ottawa, rather than Newford.

Date: 2003-01-27 09:35 am (UTC)"Jack the Giant Killer" was a good read, although it's more rollickin' and far less introspective than his later stuff, and so not the best introduction to what he writes. (Although I think I like it better, because the introspection gets to be overbearing sometimes.)
