Can I do esoteric screaming poetry along with it? I want to contribute to the enrichment of the Medford community. Or something.

Totally off-topic: I was watching a Tivo'ed Nova on Friday and saw your picture. The show was about a guy named Ramachandran (sp?) and his work on mapping which areas of the brain do what. (yes, that was very articulate, I know...)

So, there was a (presumably restaged) test being done on a guy out in CA who no longer had any emotional response to seeing familiar people/objects. He was being shown a series of pictures, including ones of his parents, and then one of you with long hair.

I think it was you, anyway. It looked like they were using photos of grad students mixed in with photos of people known to the test subject.

that is me! and I'm very impressed you recognized it :)

in fact the ramachandran lab people are doing something they aren't supposed to be doing .. no one ever gave them permission to use that picture, but it's from my the web page from my grad school lab .. they they must be taking photos of people in other labs and using them in their studies. which you're not supposed to do ..

anyway, i didn't really care. didn't know about it myself until I happened to see that nova on tv. you can imagine it was fairly startling!

Yes, I can imagine:

"Oh, interesting, it's the Ramachandra lab ... and there's the test, and there's his mom, and there's me. Huh?"
